AMC Theatres is now starting to charge attendees for premium seats at their locations, following the lead of athletic events and concerts and other alike across many industries.
This move has sparked quite the controversy as the mainstream media has been steadily attacking the idea since the announcement.
CEO Adam Aron cleared the air with a series of tweets:
The premium seating idea for AMC Entertainment seems to be criticized when other industries have been practicing this same exact model since the start of time. Whether it’s a concert venue or a sporting event there are plenty of examples of how this premium seating or viewing model works just fine.
As CEO Adam Aron said “We will carefully monitor reaction by moviegoers during the test” showing that they are more or less testing this option and are going to watch the data and reactions closely to see what comes next.
